Introduction One of the largest updates for our club which happened this year was the merge between STS club and STEM: Spotlight. As the leader of both clubs and my interest in tackling substance use disorder, I always had a lingering question in mind: how can we take something as personal and controversial as substance use and examine it through the STS lens which is both rigorous and multi-perspective? Saint’s Science Technology Society – Christopher L. (’27)

At Stanford University, STS majors gain a broad understanding of how science, technology, and society interact, while developing depth within two or three focus areas. The aim of this club is similar: I created SSTS club to celebrate the interdisciplinaryiness of society and science, which I don’t think is appreciated enough. Robotics Club: Balloon Bot Competition – Thomas S. L. (’27), Daniel W. (’28)

We’re Thomas and Daniel, members of the Saints Robotics club. Last winter, we represented Saints to compete against Notre Dame Secondary School in a robotic tournament: the Balloon Battle. In this competition, we created specialized balloon-bearing robots, which we maneuvered to pop the opponents’ balloons while defending our own, almost like Mario Kart. The competition proved to be a very engaging, fun, and valuable experience, where we got to build specialized robots with VEX Robotics parts. Game Development Club: Arena Shooter – Ken Z. (’26)

Last September, I developed Arena Shooter, a top-down shooter game, to test my game developing skills. In Arena Shooter, the player controls a white square shoots or attacks various enemies with an ever growing arsenal of weapons. The waves of enemies grow increasingly difficult, becoming more numerous and stronger. To survive, the player is able to upgrade stats, purchase power ups, and upgrade weapons in the shop by using coins dropped from the enemies. Game Development Club: School Modeling – Marek C. (’26)

We’re Marek C., Thomas L., and Ken Z., the leaders of the Game Development Club. In this post, we’re documenting our first collaborative team-building project. We decided that it would be a great exercise to try and recreate iconic parts of the Saints Senior School campus in a game engine. We chose Roblox Studio for its easy accessibility, learning curve, and collaborative properties. We started by finding the floor plans and blueprints of the school. We imported these into Roblox, and started building walls according to where they were on the floor plans. Aviation Club – Frank L. (’26)

I’m Frank, and I’m starting a club about aviation and aerial photography this year. My goal is to broaden the field of vision on the topics of drone flying, aerial photography, explore the mechanics of an airplane, and finally construct a model airplane. Pending sponsorship from a relevant company, we will assemble and experiment with model aircraft. Over the course of this club, we will discover multiple areas of aeronautics, including drone safety and control.
